Dorkfest 2008: Do some good by going fast.

For the 5th annual Dorkfest, I've decided to change things up a bit. Yes the event will still feature the M and Z3 Coupes....but this year Dorkfest will give Coupers a chance to do some good by going fast! That is because I've arranged for Dorkfest 2008 to be hosted at Tesla Motors in San Carlos! Now you're probably thinking "hmmm...I know Tesla makes an electric supercar but how will I be doing good by going fast?". Well I'll tell you. I've teamed up with Acterra, a Bay Area non-profit devoted to sustaining and enhancing the environment, to provide a rare opportunity to tour the Tesla factory and get an in person view of final production of the Tesla Roadster. Find out why the transmission development was such a challenge, learn about the battery technology or simply drool on the prototypes sitting on the lift. Due to space constraints, the tour will be limited to 60 participants. I know, I know...you're still wondering how you can "do good by going fast". Be patient...I'm getting there. For the benefit of Acterra, Tesla will be providing a VERY limited number of spirited test rides (sorry you can't drive them yourself). This is a rare chance to experience the Tesla Roadster firsthand even before they are available to the buying public (ok fine there are 3 or 4 out there)!! Anyone who makes a donation for the test rides will also be welcome to join the factory tour.
If you're not interested in Tesla, or generally frown upon giving to non-profits, no problem! There will be plenty of room for the coupes to park at Tesla HQ and lots of time to socialize with your coupe family. There will also be a breakfast at Alice's and a group drive to Tesla.
If you do intend to join in on the factory tour or the test rides, please register at the link below and I would strongly encourage you to consider the minimum suggested donation when registering. The donations are tax deductible and you will receive an email receipt from Acterra following your registration.
